Dr Roger Barker
MB BS (Hons) FANZCA

Graduated 1971 from Sydney University, then RMO and registrar at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (before it became a TV star) and Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children (before it moved to Westmead). Spent two years in Europe doing locums in England and Sweden for about 50% of the time and traveling the rest. More locums in provincial centers in Eastern Australia, then I started as the second specialist anaesthetist in Wangaratta in 1980, and have enjoyed the professional challenges, working with a group of like-minded colleagues and involving myself in all that the wonderful North-East has to offer ever since.
As a result of over 30 years of rural practice, my anaesthetic interests are now very general. I have an interest in medical ethics and have been a member of the Base Hospital Ethics committee for many years.
I am married – Lyn is a nurse – and we have three grown up children, all with degrees. I have insufficient time for golf, skiing, gardening, bushwalking and the other activities that are the reason for pursuing a rural career
