Dr Fraser L. Barry

BSc MBBS(Hons) FANZCA

Fraser completed his science and medical degree at Monash University. His pre-anaesthetic work included an internship at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne. He continued at the Alfred taking a special interest in acute and trauma medicine, before heading to England to do a year of Anaesthetics.  After completing his first year of anaesthetic training in Canterbury, England, he returned to Australia to complete it through the Austin and Repatriation Hospital and its affiliates and also spent some time at the Royal Children's Hospital and Royal Women's in Melbourne.  He spent the last two years in the UK to complete his fellowship and work as a locum consultant at the Addenbrooke's NHS Trust in Cambridge.   Fraser returned to Australia to join his brother (Dr Russell Bourne) in thFraser, WAG Membere Wangaratta Anaesthetic Group.

Interests in anaesthesia include regional anaesthesia, orthopaedics, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Urology. The use of Ultrasound in Regional Anaesthesia is of particular interest.

He is also a casual lecturer in the University of Melbourne rural clinical school. 

Like all his colleagues, in WAG, he attends local and international meetings to keep his skills and knowledge up to date. He also occasionally teaches in the use of Ultrasound in Anaesthesia.

Outside of work he is has a range of interests including: wine and food; cycling; cooking; and travel, and the Collingwood Football Club.

Fraser is married to Niroshi and has a daughter Alexandra, and two boys Michael and Nicholas and not forgetting Max the dog.  He is also the producer and webmaster of this site.
